Botanical Watercolors: Intermediate - Advanced - Tuesday Mornings: Fall IPaintingThis class is designed for students with prior watercolor experience who are eager to build on their skills in botanical painting. Students will learn to closely observe plants and depict them in botanically accurate and highly detailed watercolor. Explore methods for capturing the delicate details of botanical subjects, including leaves, flowers, roots, fruit, and pollinators. Together, we’ll work on layering transparent washes, perfecting dry brush techniques, and achieving realistic light, shadow, and depth to bring compositions to life. We will also look to their predecessors, including the Impressionists, Fauvists, and Surrealists, whose ideas and techniques helped lay the groundwork for their innovations. Throughout the class, each student will work from a landscape that holds personal meaning, exploring ways to interpret and reimagine it through drawing, painting, and collage.
