National Pizza Day: Parent-Child Pizza Making Workshop
Join us at Young Chefs Academy for this special, one-time parent-child workshop where you and your child will learn the delicious art of pizza making from scratch. Learn the secrets to a perfect pizza crust and knead your own dough, craft a homemade, flavorful pizza sauce, customize your individual pizzas with your favorite cheeses and toppings. Take your freshly baked masterpiece home to enjoy or eat it right in the academy. Transportation is not provided. Each child must be accompanied and partnered with an adult. -
Advanced Golf Clinics at Stonewater
We are excited to partner with Stonewater Golf Club to offer golf lessons to help PAR-fect your child’s golf game. These clinics are being offered exclusively for Orange Rec and no club memberships are required. In a safe environment, participants will seamlessly learn from Chad Rogers, youth coach at Stonewater. The 4-week Advanced Junior Academy Clinics are designed for junior golfers who want to elevate their game. Players will focus on: Refining advanced swing mechanics, course management and shot selection, mental game and competitive strategies, and practice plans that translate into lower scores! The clinics will take place in the Linksman House at StoneWater, which features 2 trackman simulators and 1 driving range bay. Please note parents are responsible for dropping off and picking up their children from the clinics. -
Eco Explorers: Where do I belong?
In this fun and interactive program, students will explore the different homes of Ohio’s wild animals! From shady forests to splashy wetlands and wide-open prairies, we’ll discover where animals live. Using cards, students will match each animal to its perfect habitat. Along the way, we’ll talk about what makes each habitat special—and how animals are perfectly suited to where they live. Get ready to hop, fly, and crawl as we learn through play! -
Eco Explorers: Ohio's Wild Ones- Endangered Species
Discover the incredible animals that call Ohio home and learn why some of them are at risk. Participants will dive into the world of native wildlife facing threats from habitat loss, pollution, and climate change. Through interactive activities and engaging discussions, we’ll explore what it means to be endangered, how species become threatened, and what we can do to protect them. Each student will receive their very own Endangered Species Passport, which will be stamped as they learn about each animal. Through fun activities like storytelling, games, and crafts, students will explore real-world conservation efforts and discover how they can become Wildlife Heroes—right in their own backyard! -
Learn to Skate
Want to learn how to roller-skate or roller-blade? The Chagrin Valley Roller Rink (CVRR) offers a program that will teach you the basics, such as: starting, stopping, gliding, striding, squatting, marching, scissors, and crosses. The last lesson is a fun time skate and a chance for students to show their families what they’ve learned. Rental skates are included. Please call the CVRR regarding cancellations or with any questions at (440) 247-4224. Transportation is not provided. No lessons March 25. -
Eco Explorers: The Woodland Art
Celebrate the beauty of winter through art inspired by the natural world! Participants will explore the winter landscape and use natural materials like twigs, pinecones, leaves, and snow to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces.From frosty prints, woodland creature crafts or nature mandalas, this program blends creativity with outdoor discovery using pine needles, twigs, and snow. Whether indoors or out, it encourages imagination, mindfulness, and an appreciation for the quiet magic of the winter woods. -
Super Mario Bros Bash
March 10th is National Mario Day (or MAR10 Day)! Celebrate the iconic character by competing against your friends in various Mario games, bingo, and enjoying Super Star treats. Students attending Moreland Hills Elementary school must update their SDM notes to attend the program. Students without an updated note will not be able to ride the Rec Bus. Any students who will not be attending a class must email knewman@orangecsd.org to confirm their absence. -
School's Out Specials
No School? Have no fear, Orange Rec is here! Register your child to come join us for a day filled with laughter, fun and friends! Days will be filled with so many activities ranging from cooking, sports, arts & crafts, games, special guests and even at times, field trips! No need to pack a lunch, we will have something yummy provided while observing all dietary restrictions. Additional details concerning scheduled activities and lunches will be announced via email to all registered families prior to the School’s Out Special. Be sure to register in advance, space is limited! -
