Cleveland Fencing Academy
This award-winning facility just celebrated the success of one of their students who won gold in the Paris Marathon Fleuret, an international youth foil competition! Cleveland Fencing Academy is a 7800 sq ft state-of-the-art fencing and sports facility for kids/adults right in Beachwood. With 17 Olympic-sized fencing strips, CFA is the largest and most recognized foil and saber fencing program in the state of Ohio. Get plugged into the oldest modern Olympic sport, realize your Star Wars Jedi dreams, and become competitive on a regional, national, and international level! Unique opportunity in the Cleveland area! All equipment is provided by the club. OCER does not provide transportation to or from this class. Students will pick one day a week to attend classes. School's Out Specials
No School? Have no fear, Orange Rec is here! Register your child to come join us for a day filled with laughter, fun and friends! Days will be filled with so many activities ranging from cooking, sports, arts & crafts, games, special guests and even at times, field trips! No need to pack a lunch, we will have something yummy provided while observing all dietary restrictions. Additional details concerning scheduled activities and lunches will be announced via email to all registered families prior to the School’s Out Special. Be sure to register in advance, space is limited! -
Trail to the Stars
A family-friendly evening adventure featuring a scenic guided hike through a 1,100 acre park followed by stargazing under the night sky in the ONLY designated dark sky in Ohio. Discover constellations, planets, and more with staff-led exploration—weather permitting, and transportation is included. -
Future Fashion Stars: Rock The Runway Fashion Show
Students will participate in a professional lookbook photoshoot, learn runway modeling and discover what it takes to produce a real fashion show! Learning from fashion industry experts, experienced models and professional photographers. Participants will build confidence, develop presentation skills and experience the excitement of showcasing their creativity on the runway. Students model designs they created in a Future Fashion Stars class, or they style and showcase their own original look for the event. Previous participation in a class series is encouraged but not required. Perfect for both Future Fashion Stars students and newcomers who want to experience the excitement of fashion design, styling, photography and runway modeling. All participants will receive their own magazine cover featuring their designs! -
Holiday Craft Studio
Spooky Slime Lab: Get ready for a gooey, spooky good time in Spooky Slime Lab! Kids will create two Halloween-themed slimes using fun mix-ins like glitter, foam beads, spooky colors, and creepy decorations while learning simple slime making techniques. Build-A- Turkey: Each child will stuff and create their very own turkey stuffed animal before designing a custom t-shirt to make their new feathered friend extra special. Kids will enjoy hands-on creativity, festive fall fun, and leave with a personalized turkey plush to take home. This cozy seasonal class is perfect for celebrating Thanksgiving in a creative and memorable way. Hot Cocoa & Clay: In this cozy after-school class, students will enjoy sipping hot cocoa while creating air-dry clay projects and holiday gifts for family and friends. In this two-part class, kids will design and decorate fun seasonal creations using air-dry clay, paint, and festive embellishments. This creative class is the perfect mix of art, holiday cheer, and hands-on fun. -
Extreme Dodgeball (Gr. 2-5)
Come join this fun and exciting extreme dodgeball class! This program provides students the opportunity to play the popular game in a safe and supervised environment. Our coaches will emphasize teamwork, cooperation, and proper sportsmanship. Each week will consist of different versions of dodgeball. Kids Warrior Yoga (Gr. K-5)
Yoga for school-age children provides a fun and engaging way for children to practice mindfulness, body awareness, balance, strength, and flexibility in a noncompetitive and compassionate environment. In addition, yoga provides children with increased focus, confidence, and the ability to work through everyday frustrations in a calm manner. Traditional yoga poses will be explored using child-friendly language, games, yoga challenges, yoga props, and traditional yoga sequencing. Join us and find your inner warrior. Frills and thrills! In our fall 2 class series, we will create a fashion line from concept to collection. The students will work individually and as a team to create their designs. In this hands-on cooking class, kids of all levels step into the chef’s hat as they chop, mix, measure, and whip up their own delicious creations. They’ll build kitchen confidence, expand their taste buds, learn real culinary terms, and make new foodie friends along the way! And the fun doesn’t stop at the stove—kids will also enjoy food themed games, crafts, and recipe inspired activities that keep the culinary creativity going! Botanist Buds: A Plant- Centered Steam Experience
In this hands-on series, young botanists discover the wonders of the plant world through gardening, nature-based activities, science experiments, and creative projects. Along the way, they’ll learn how plants grow, why pollinators are important, and how plants help our environment thrive. Each student will care for their own plant while building confidence, responsibility, and a love for nature. No class November 25. -
Power Play Gym Games (Gr. K-2)
The power play gym games class is a great way for students to burn off all that energy by playing their favorite games! The program is designed to bring the excitement of physical education and summer camp right into the after-school hours. Experienced coaches will lead a variety of tag games, classic playground games like capture the flag and kickball, and much more! Coaches will create a safe environment that fosters teamwork and sportsmanship in this exciting class that will guarantee a fun and active time! Learn to Skate
Want to learn how to roller-skate or roller-blade? The Chagrin Valley Roller Rink (CVRR) offers a program that will teach you the basics, such as: starting, stopping, gliding, striding, squatting, marching, scissors, and crosses. The last lesson is a fun time skate and a chance for students to show their families what they’ve learned. Rental skates are included. Session 1: Students will examine daily tools scientists use in “What is Science”, “Tool Time”, learn about “Amazing Atoms & Moving Molecules”, experiment with mixing colors in “Magic of Color”, discover buoyancy in “Floating and Sinking”, discover how science is magical in “Is it Science? Is it Magic”, and learn how seeds spread and the science of leaves changing colors in ”Harvest Time and Colorful Leaves”!Session 2: Students will see how different materials affect how balls bounce in “Magic of Bouncing Balls”, explore “Creative Chemistry” as they are surprised by indicator paper and corn starch, delve in mountains, deserts, caves and prairies in ”Large Landforms”, examine sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks in “Rocking Rocks”, learn how scientists explore ”Terrific Teeth”, and learn about the animal and plants that live in “Proud Ponds”! Pixel Beads: From Keychains to Self Portraits in Fuse beads
Pixel Beads is an art program where participants explore pixel art and transform simple grid-based designs into creative, meaningful artwork! The first three sessions introduce pixel art concepts, including its history and design basics, through beginner-friendly projects like keychains and small pixel designs. Participants learn color placement, pattern building, and planning within a grid system. The final three sessions focus on applying those skills to create a personalized fuse bead self-portrait. Using guided templates and grids, participants break down their own image into pixelstyle artwork and complete a finished portrait piece. The program blends art history, creativity, and hands-on making in a structured, engaging environment that builds confidence and artistic expression. -
Kids' Pickleball (Gr. 3-5)
Learn the fundamentals of one of the fastest growing sports in the US! Players will develop pickleball skills including serving, returning serves, forehand and backhand strokes, court positioning, and game strategy through drills, skill-building activities, and gameplay. Each week, students will practice techniques designed to improve coordination, consistency, and teamwork while participating in age-appropriate matches and challenges. Coaches will provide a supportive and energetic environment that helps players grow their skills and enjoy the game!
