Bring your own ideas to life in this open studio format class. Work in the medium of your choice: oil, watercolor, acrylic, oil pastel, chalk pastel, collage, drawing, or mixed media. Receive individualized instruction, technique demonstrations, and feedback tailored to your goals. Explore methods, develop your personal style, and create at your own pace. This relaxed, supportive studio environment is ideal for artists who enjoy working independently with professional guidance. Intermediate and advanced students are welcome. Students supply their own materials. Please note: Turpentine and traditional paint thinners are not permitted in OAC studios. Odorless paint thinner is required for oil painting.

New at the OAC: Art Explorers: Ceramics is now available as a Thursday option for Grades 3–5. Young artists will explore clay through handbuilding, surface design, and glazing techniques to create original ceramic pieces. This ceramics-focused day offers expanded opportunities for clay work within our established Art Explorers program, while still providing group and individual instruction. All supplies included. Grades K–2 meet Mondays and Tuesdays; Grades 3–5 meet Wednesdays (Art Explorers) and Thursdays (Art Explorers – Ceramics). Resident students will be chaperoned and shuttled from Moreland Hills Elementary to the Art Center. Student artwork must be picked up within two weeks of the session ending. After that, unclaimed work may be discarded.

NEW Open Studio Mondays are now available for currently enrolled students. Join us for an open studio and get independent time to work on projects, experiment with glaze combinations, and decorate! No outside glazes or clay permitted; please use this time to continue working on your current OAC class projects. Clay disbursements are not provided at this time. A Studio Tech will be present if you have questions! The Open Studio is designed as a pay-as-you-go or purchase multiple sessions ahead in increments of $25 Residents/$29 Nonresidents. NEW! Two hour, 8-week class on Thursdays! In this invigorating course, beginner students learn basic wheel-throwing and handbuilding ceramic techniques used to create basic pottery forms such as mugs, bowls, and dishes. Experienced students can deepen their pottery knowledge and evolve their skills through various surface designs, forms, and glazing combinations using our new glazes. Unwind in this one-hour evening family-style workshop designed to bring joy back into the painting process! Each session focuses on painting as a flow art, where the emphasis is on exploration and creativity rather than the final result.
