BMS Climbing Club at Shaker RocksJust for TeensJoin our climbing club after school at Shaker Rocks. All climbers welcome from very beginners to serious climbers. No matter where they are on their climbing journey, Climbing Club will help them build a good foundation. In addition to climbing skills, Climbing Club members will make new friends, learn new communication skills, and express their personalities in a whole new way. Climbing focuses on both physical and mental strength and agility. Your child will not only get stronger and more athletic, they will also become more confident! And, of course, Climbing Club is designed to be FUN! Without focusing on competition, climbers are free to develop their skills in a stress-free, supportive environment. Students will board the bus after school and be dropped off at Shaker Rocks at 3:00pm. Parents must pick their kids up from Shaker Rocks at 4:30pm. OCER will provide transportation and supervision for climbing club, however separate registration is required with Shaker Rocks for $149 for climbing. TRANSPORTATION: Students enrolled in after school classes at the Pepper Pike Learning Center are required to walk from Brady Middle School to our facility, or get dropped off by a parent. Busing is not provided. Parents must also notify BMS that their child will be attending a program at one of our facilities after school. As a courtesy, parents must also notify our department if your child will be absent from school (or picked up early). Baseball & SoftballFirst base for many baseball players and athletes here in the community is the Parent / Child Little Lions Clinic. Athletes quickly swing in to league and gameplay as Kindergarteners with T-Ball and Coach Pitch Leagues. 3rd – 6th graders can participate in recreation-level baseball programs joining neighboring communities along the way. Finally, the travel baseball program continues to grow and expand and competes with the best teams in the area and has produced varsity athletes in our community. Beginning Checkmate Chess (Gr. K-5)Brain PowerProgress With Chess is excited to offer two class levels to cater to students' interests and needs, ranging from Beginner to Intermediate! Students in the Beginner section will be able to complete a legal game of chess by the end of the session. Students will learn how the pieces move, all of the various rules and caveats of chess, as well as basic checkmating patterns and endgames. Please be advised, Progress with Chess may move your child to intermediate if in the child's best interest. Each session will now include a giveaway at the end of the session to further your child’s playing ability! No class February 13.
